Yukio Yashiro was a Japanese academic, art historian, and Botticelli scholar who served as Director of the Institute for Art Research in Tokyo. In 1960, he became the founding director of the Museum of Japanese Art in Nara, which was established to preserve and display the private collection of the Kintetsu Corporation. Yashiro authored over 100 publications on art history in 7 languages and received the Charles Lang Freer Medal in 1965 for his contributions to the field.
