This document describes an experiment to isolate plasmid DNA from bacterial culture using alkaline lysis. The yields and purity of two extracted DNA samples were analyzed using gel electrophoresis and nanodrop spectrophotometry. The results showed two DNA fragments corresponding to supercoiled and relaxed plasmid DNA. The sizes could be estimated based on a DNA ladder.
