What is Review of Book: Shadows and the Dark: The Problems of Suffering and Evil about?
## THE DOWNSIDE REVIEW of taking decisions, of making value judgments, and so on. If it is logically impossible for bodies to do such things, so much the worse for materialism. But if the impossibility is relative to our current understanding of matter, it seems possible that a revolution in physics might effect a reconciliation between materialism and free will. In the meantime dualists are in no better position than materialists to explain those workings of the human mind which appear to require description in terms of final rather than efficient causality.
