What is Kincaid about?

In her book A Small Place, Jamaica Kincaid critiques the lasting impacts of imperialism and tourism on Antigua, highlighting the neglect and exploitation by British colonizers. She argues that while Britain profited from the island, they left it with inadequate infrastructure and a corrupt government, which has perpetuated economic struggles. Kincaid expresses a deep frustration for the Antiguans, who are trapped in a cycle of dependency on tourism and unable to escape their troubled past.
