This thesis examines flood hazard and risk assessment in Fogera Woreda, Ethiopia using GIS and remote sensing. Land use/land cover change detection from 1985 to 1999 showed decreases in shrublands, grasslands and woodlands as agriculture and swamps expanded. Comparison of rainfall and river gauge data from 1974-2006 showed rainfall slightly decreasing as gauge levels increased, attributed to land cover removal.
