What is Workflow Mining: Process Model Discovery about?

This document discusses workflow mining, which is the process of discovering process models from event logs. It presents a new algorithm to extract a process model from a workflow log and represent it as a Petri net. The algorithm is able to successfully mine workflows represented by a specific type of Petri net called SWF-nets. The key benefit of workflow mining is that it provides insight into how processes are actually executed, rather than how they are designed or intended to work, by analyzing event lo
