A military helicopter was shot down in Helmand province, Afghanistan by mujahideen fighters. The helicopter crashed and burned completely in the Bagh district, killing 35 soldiers onboard. Local residents reported that the wreckage remained on site as surviving soldiers were transported away by vehicle. The news of the downing was delayed in being published due to communication difficulties in the area.
