Max Knoll was a German electrical engineer born on July 17, 1897, and co-inventor of the electron microscope, which he developed with Ernst Ruska in 1931. After a career that included work at Telefunken and Princeton University, he returned to Munich and conducted experiments on brain stimulation before retiring in 1966. Knoll passed away on November 6, 1969, at the age of 72.
