The Higaonon are an indigenous tribe of around 350,000 people located in northern Mindanao, Philippines. They have lived in the forest regions since ancient times, managing the forest in a sustainable way. The tribe is composed of eight clans centered around the main rivers, and follows a leadership system of Datus with specialized roles.
