Mercury Emission Standards for Power Plants by Munawar Hussain is a document available to read on EtoBox.
The EPA finalized national standards in 2011 to reduce mercury and other toxic air pollution from coal and oil-fired power plants. These standards apply to about 1,400 power plants and will reduce mercury emissions by 90%, acid gas emissions by 88%, and sulfur dioxide emissions by 41%. While some older power plants do not yet have pollution controls, the required technology is widely available and will help modernize aging power plants.
