RP570 is a protocol used between an RTU and SCADA software to communicate information. It was developed by ABB in the 1990s based on IEC 57 part 5-1, now known as IEC 60870. The physical layer uses an RS232 serial connection with 1 start bit, 8 data bits, 1 parity bit, and 1 stop bit.
