This meta-analysis reviewed studies comparing warm bladder irrigation fluid to room-temperature fluid for benign prostatic hyperplasia patients. It found that warm fluid significantly decreased the risk of hypothermia and shivering during and after surgery compared to room-temperature fluid. Warm fluid also decreased the drop in body temperature compared to room-temperature fluid. The analysis concluded that warm irrigation fluid should be considered standard practice for BPH surgeries.
