This study examined the effect of a spinal tap test on sit-to-stand, walking, and turning performance in 27 patients with idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus. Patients were assessed before and 24 hours after a spinal tap where 30-50cc of cerebrospinal fluid was removed. Significant improvements were found in sit-to-stand time, walking time, and number of steps to turn after the spinal tap. Turning time also improved but not significantly.
