The study compared the effects of a silage-based control diet (C) and a nonforage diet (NF) on milk production, energy, and nitrogen metabolism in dairy goats throughout lactation. Results indicated that while goats on the NF diet had higher dry matter intake, milk yield and composition were similar between the two diets, though NF increased nonprotein nitrogen and urea levels in milk. Overall, the nonforage diet did not adversely affect the health or productive performance of the goats during lactation.
