What is Biogeography of Spinoctenus Spiders about?

This document describes a new genus of wandering spider, Spinoctenus, from Colombia. Eleven new species are described within this genus. Phylogenetic analyses support Spinoctenus as a monophyletic group closely related to Phoneutria and Ctenus. Spinoctenus can be distinguished from other ctenid spiders by features of the embolus, tegulum, and retrolateral tibial apophysis. A biogeographical analysis suggests Spinoctenus originated in the Andes and later dispersed to other regions of Colombia.
