This study examines the relationship between pet ownership and feelings of loneliness among older adult primary care patients. Results indicate that pet owners are 36% less likely to report loneliness compared to non-pet owners, particularly among those living alone. The findings suggest that pet ownership may provide social connectedness and enhance well-being in older adults who live alone.
