What is Aziz Sancar: A Brief Biography about?

Aziz Sancar was born in 1946 in Mardin, Turkey to illiterate parents who emphasized education. He studied medicine in Istanbul and biochemistry in the US, completing his PhD at the University of Texas. Sancar worked at Yale and the University of North Carolina, where he is currently a professor. In 2015, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his work studying DNA repair mechanisms, making him the first Turkish-American Nobel laureate.
