What is Big Announcement About Matric Results about?

The South African Information Regulator has prohibited the Department of Basic Education from publishing the 2024 matric results in newspapers without consent, citing non-compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act. The DBE must now find compliant methods to share results, such as through schools or secure SMS services, and obtain consent for future publications. Failure to comply with these directives may prevent the publication of the 2025 results as well.
