Astigmatism is an eye condition where the cornea is football shaped rather than round, causing blurred vision. This happens because the irregular shape affects how light focuses on the retina. There are two main types - regular astigmatism which is common and caused by corneal shape, and irregular astigmatism caused by corneal scarring. It can be diagnosed via an eye exam where lenses are used to find the best prescription for clear vision. Treatment for mild cases may not be needed but stronger astigmatism
