The San Francisco Bay Area MPO committed $1 billion to develop a 2,140 mile regional bicycle network. The network aims to link major transit hubs and provide bike access within 1 mile of 90% of residents. Half of the network is currently complete. The MPO evaluated projects based on their potential to increase bike trips and reduce vehicle miles traveled, but had limited data on existing bike trips.
