What is Recent progress in bismuth oxyhalides-based heterojunctions for CO2 photoreduction about?
Photocatalytic conversion of CO2 is one of the most proficient methods to overcome the current dilemma related to energy problems. Generally, CO2 is being treated as a waste product until or unless it is converted into solar energy fuels or other valuable hydrocarbons; therefore its conversion nowadays is becoming a topic of burning concern. Photocatalytic CO2 reduction into hydrocarbon fuels and other useful chemicals hinges on the advancement in design, fabrication, and selection of potential semiconductor photocatalysts. Bismuth oxyhalides (BiOX), nonmetallic robust semiconductors with a highly expanded spacing of (110), (001) active facets and outshined morphological characteristics, have significantly grabbed the attention of researchers for photoassisted CO2 reduction. Modulated heterojunctions with apt semiconductors were developed to depict the visible and near-infrared radiations, which have driven photocatalytic CO2 conversion phenomenon. These advanced features could intensify our mechanistic perception of boosted photocatalytic performance for CO2 reduction. Therefore by providing an all-inclusive study (construction and various modulations) and combined efforts of rese
