Moldavia is a historical region in Eastern Europe located between the Eastern Carpathian Mountains and the Dniester River. The Putna Monastery, one of the most important cultural and religious sites in medieval Moldavia, was built and dedicated by Prince Stephen the Great on lands near the Putna River, which flows from the Obcina Mare mountains in Bukovina.
