This study evaluated the efficacy and safety of azithromycin 1.5% eye drops compared to tobramycin 0.3% eye drops for treating purulent bacterial conjunctivitis in children. 286 children aged 1 day to 17 years with purulent conjunctivitis were randomly assigned to receive either azithromycin twice daily for 3 days or tobramycin every 2 hours for 2 days then 4 times daily for 5 days.
