This study examines causal relationships between the global value chain status and anti-dumping barriers in China for the period 1998 to 2011. Our empirical results found that upgrading the global value chain status significantly reduced the probability of Chinese companies being subjected to anti-dumping lawsuits. That is, a higher status provides protective effects against anti-dumping barriers, this conclusion is still valid after a series of robust tests. In addition, the global value chain status of enterprises has a U-shaped nonlinear relationship with anti-dumping barriers.
