The Minor Basilica of the Holy Child in Cebu City, Philippines is the oldest Roman Catholic church in the country. It was built in the 16th century on the site where Spanish explorers discovered a statue of the Child Jesus in 1565. The current church, constructed from 1735-1740, is the fourth iteration, with earlier structures having been destroyed by fire or structural defects. The basilica combines elements of Muslim, Romanesque, and Neoclassical architecture and was designated a National Cultural Treasur
