The High Line park in New York City runs along 1.5 miles of elevated railway on the west side of Manhattan. It was completed in 2009 and designed to encourage natural vegetation growth, allowing visitors to wander freely. The park has attracted new architecture and development to the surrounding area and blurred the lines between parks and buildings in the city. The Seoul Skygarden project in Korea transformed an abandoned and unsafe highway overpass into an elevated public park populated with 254 species
