About this document
Brazil Under Vargas: 1930-1945 by Juan Diego Miranda is a document available to read on EtoBox.
Getulio Vargas ruled Brazil as a dictator from 1930 to 1945 under the Estado Novo regime. He centralized power, growing the role of the state in the economy through import substitution industrialization policies. While facing domestic opposition, Vargas led Brazil to join World War II against Germany in 1942. After the war, Vargas transitioned Brazil back towards democracy with the 1945 elections, though he would later return to power and ultimately die by suicide in 1954.
