This study investigated the efficacy of riboflavin/ultraviolet A corneal collagen cross-linkage to halt the progression of keratoconus. 24 patients with early/moderate bilateral keratoconus were recruited, with one eye randomly assigned to undergo the treatment and the other left untreated as a control. Measurements at 18 months follow-up found significant reductions in keratometry, coma, and other optical aberrations in treated eyes compared to untreated eyes, indicating the treatment can halt keratoconus
