What is Understanding the Water Table and Saturation about?

The water table is the upper boundary of the zone of saturation where the ground is fully saturated with water. It occurs where the water pressure is equal to atmospheric pressure. Below the water table lies the phreatic zone, where permeable rock layers called aquifers hold groundwater that has infiltrated from precipitation or flowed in from other areas.
