The Alice Hotel was located along the old road from Townsville to Hervey Range, approximately 15 miles from Townsville. Established in 1867 by Thomas McCarey, one of the earliest pioneers of North Queensland, the Alice Hotel contained two sitting rooms and four bedrooms and served as a resting place for travelers.
