This review considers two major areas--research on educational media and research on school media centers (learning resource centers). Research reviewed in this report is limited to studies carried out in public school settings or that deal with issues of concern in public education. An introduction discusses the changing definition of instructional technology. More than half of the review is devoted to summarizing conclusions and discussing the history, directions, and limitations of research on educational media.
