The new sodium tellurido manganates(II) Na~2~Mn~2~Te~3~, Na~2~Mn~3~Te~4~, Na~2~ A MnTe~3~ ( A =K, Rb), and NaCsMnTe~2~ by Michael Langenmaier; Caroline Röhr is a Chemistry article available to read on EtoBox.

What is The new sodium tellurido manganates(II) Na~2~Mn~2~Te~3~, Na~2~Mn~3~Te~4~, Na~2~ A MnTe~3~ ( A =K, Rb), and NaCsMnTe~2~ about?

## Abstract A series of new sodium and mixed Na/__A__ (__A__ = K, Rb, Cs) tellurido manganates have been synthesized from melts of the pure elements (or MnTe) at maximum temperatures of 600–1000°C. The monoclinic crystal structures of the two pure sodium salts Na~2~Mn~2~Te~3~ (space group __C__2/__c__, __a__ = 1653.68(2), __b__ = 1482.57(2), __c__ = 773.620(10) pm, __β__ = 117.52°, __Z__ = 8, __R__1 = 0.0225) and Na~2~Mn~3~Te~4~ (space group __C__2/__m__, __a__ = 1701.99(3), __b__ = 438.741(8), __c__ = 691.226(12) pm, __β__ = 90.3171(8)°, __Z__ = 2, __R__1 = 0.0270) are both based on a hexagonal close packed Te^2−^ arrangement. Na~2~Mn~2~Te~3~ is isotypic with Na~2~Mn~2~S~3~ and Na~2~Mn~2~Se~3~ and contains layers of [MnTe~4~] tetrahedra, which are connected __via__ common edges to form tetramers [Mn~4~Te~6~]. These tetramers are further connected __via μ__ ~3~-Te atoms. Na~2~Mn~3~Te~4~ crystallizes in a new structure type, recently also reported for the selenido salt Na~2~Mn~3~Se~4~. Mn(2) forms ribbons of vertex-sharing dinuclear units ∞ 1 [ Te 2 / 2 MnTe 2 MnTe 2 / 2 ] $\_\infty ^1[{\rm{T}}{{\rm{e}}\_{2/2}}{\rm{MnT}}{{\rm{e}}\_2}{\rm{MnT}}{{\rm{e}}\_{2/2}}]$ running along the sh
