Rain occurs through the hydrologic cycle. Water evaporates from surfaces due to heat from the sun, becoming water vapor in the atmosphere. This vapor condenses to form clouds as temperatures decrease. The clouds move via wind currents and air pressure changes. When the clouds become too full, the water droplets become too heavy and fall as precipitation, which can be rain, snow, or hail depending on temperatures.
