Schizoaffective disorder is a mental disorder that has features of both schizophrenia and mood disorders. It involves psychotic symptoms like hallucinations and delusions along with mood symptoms like depression or mania. The onset of symptoms is often in adolescence and preceded by a stressor. Prognosis is better than schizophrenia but worse than mood disorders alone. Treatment involves mood stabilizers, antipsychotics, family therapy and social/cognitive rehabilitation.
