What is Language Learning Strategies by Discipline about?
This study investigated language learning strategies used by 1,006 students across eight disciplines in Hong Kong. The most frequently used strategies were compensation, cognitive, and metacognitive strategies. Strategy use differed by discipline, with English students reporting the highest overall use and computer studies students the lowest. Certain disciplines tended to use specific strategy categories more, such as English students using cognitive, metacognitive, and social strategies more than others.
