A solar cell system is connected to the grid with photovoltaic arrays that convert sunlight to electricity. An inverter is used to convert the direct current from the solar cells to alternating current that can be used in homes or added to the electric grid. A power meter monitors and measures the electricity generated by the solar cell system that is either used or added to the larger electric grid through a grid connection.
