Twelve young women developed paraneoplastic anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDAR) encephalitis associated with ovarian teratomas. The patients presented with prominent psychiatric symptoms, seizures, memory deficits, and decreased consciousness. Analysis showed antibodies targeting NR2B and NR2A subunits of the NMDAR.
