What is Modernism and Colonialism about?

This document discusses modernism in the global north and south through the lens of colonialism. [1] It explores how colonialism created a dichotomy between the two spheres and established hierarchies that still influence societies today. [2] Colonial powers viewed themselves as superior to subaltern nations in the global south. [3] This worldview called orientalism shaped stereotypes of southern cultures as exotic, inferior, or in need of rescue by the west.
