1) A horizontal well with limited entry perforations was used to replace ten vertical injection wells at an oil sands site in Canada. 2) The horizontal well was completed with a liner and only 28 perforations to control the placement of steam injection along the wellbore. 3) This design allowed steam to be targeted to cold, undepleted regions of the reservoir more effectively than the previous vertical well configuration.
