This study investigates the relationship between academic mobility and publishing performance among candidates for full professorships in economics in the Czech Republic. Findings indicate low mobility rates, high inbreeding, and a tendency for internal candidates to produce more publications, albeit with lower visibility in international research. The authors suggest that policy reforms are necessary to enhance competition and improve the overall performance of higher education institutions in the region.
