This study presents the synthesis of Mg-doped layered double hydroxide (LDH) nanocomposites to enhance photocatalytic activity for degrading caffeine, a pharmaceutical pollutant. The photocatalysts were characterized and tested under UV irradiation, showing that the Mg-doped LDH (1 wt%) significantly outperformed undoped LDH and standard titanium dioxide in caffeine degradation. The findings suggest that this method could be a cost-effective and environmentally friendly solution for wastewater treatment.
