What is Maniego about?

Julia Maniego endorsed several checks drawn by her sister that were later dishonored after being exchanged for government cash. While Maniego was acquitted of criminal charges for malversation of funds, the court ruled she could still be held civilly liable as the endorser of the dishonored checks. As an endorser, Maniego was still considered a party liable on the negotiable instruments under the law.
