What is Sirens in Attic Funerary Stelae about?

This thesis explores the depiction and significance of sirens in Classical Attic cemeteries, particularly their role on funerary stelae. It examines the origins of the siren figure in Greek mythology, its evolution in art and literature, and its appropriateness as a funerary symbol. The research aims to challenge traditional views of sirens as malevolent beings, suggesting a more nuanced understanding of their representation in ancient funerary contexts.
