What is Reference Books of 2007-2008: A Selection about?
Some 3,317 doctoral and selected masters' theses from British and Irish universities are recorded in this bibliography. In 1967 in Oxford Slavonic Papers the late John Simmons published the original list covering dieses from 1907 to 1966, followed by quinquennial lists through 1981. Gregory Walker continued the series with four lists covering die period up through 2001, the latest published in the January 2004 issue of the Slavonic and East European Review. The present work adds dissertations from 2002-2006 and 229 previously unrecorded earlier theses, while at the same time excluding 546 one-year masters' theses that appeared in preceding lists. The work is arranged under thirty-two subject headings. Audior and subject indexes are provided. The subject index includes personal, institutional, and geographic names, standard subject headings, and topical keywords appearing in tides and subtitles. In addition to its obvious reference value, this work is a useful contribution to the history of scholarship on Russia and eastern Europe.
