What is Hachiko: The Loyal Akita Legend about?

Hachiko was an Akita Inu dog that lived in Japan in the 1920s. He accompanied his owner, Professor Hidesaburo Ueno, to and from the train station every day. One day in 1925, the professor did not return on the train as he had suffered a stroke and died at work. Hachiko continued faithfully waiting at the train station for his master to return, even after being taken in by relatives, for over 10 years until his own death. A statue was later erected at the train station to honor Hachiko
