A database management system (DBMS) is a collection of interrelated data and programs used to access the data. The data is stored in a database which contains information relevant to an enterprise. Some common DBMS for commercial use include Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, IBM DB2, and MySQL. The overall design of a database is called a database schema which defines the structure and relationships of the data.
