This study compared the clinical presentation of severe falciparum malaria in patients admitted to a hospital in Bikaner, India in 1994 versus 2001. In 1994, cerebral malaria was the most common complication observed (25.75%), followed by jaundice (11.47%). However, in 2001 there was a significant increase in presentations of jaundice (58.85%) and severe anemia (26.04%), while cerebral malaria decreased significantly to 10.94%.
