What is Accelerated Epi-On Versus Standard Epi-Off Corneal Collagen Cross-Linking For Progressive Keratoconus in Pediatric Patients: Five Years of Follow-Up about?

This study compared the 5-year results of accelerated transepithelial (A-epi-on) corneal collagen cross-linking (CXL) to standard epi-off CXL in pediatric patients with progressive keratoconus. The study found that while both procedures halted keratoconus progression at 5 years, epi-off CXL resulted in greater improvements in visual acuity, refraction, and keratometry and was safer than A-epi-on CXL. Epi-off CXL produced a mean keratometry flattening of 3.18 diopters compared to 0.09 diopters for A-epi-on C
