The document compares mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) and calcium hydroxide as pulpotomy agents in young permanent teeth. 30 teeth in 15 children were divided into two groups, with one group receiving MTA pulpotomy and the other receiving calcium hydroxide pulpotomy. Clinical and radiographic evaluations at 3, 6, and 12 months found failure in two teeth treated with calcium hydroxide but overall success for both materials. MTA may be a suitable alternative to calcium hydroxide for this procedure.
