What is The Power of Incentives - Applying Causal Mechanisms To Combat Modern Misinformation about?

The paper discusses the urgent need to combat misinformation on social media by applying incentive mechanisms similar to those used by pirate crews in the past. It proposes a system that rewards truth-telling and punishes the spread of lies, thereby aligning individual interests with collective goals. By implementing AI checks and regulatory measures, the aim is to create a digital environment that promotes accurate information and discourages falsehoods.
